Cherokee County Real Estate
Welcome to our Cherokee County Real Estate site! Located approximately 30 miles north of downtown Atlanta, Cherokee County is "where metro meets the mountains". Nested in between Cobb County to the South, Pickens County to the North, Forsyth County to the East, and Bartow County to the West, Cherokee County can be easily accessed by Interstates 575 & 75, and also State Highway 20.
In the first hundred years of Georgia´s history, the northwestern part of the state was generally considered "Indian Territory", and although the government had removed most of the Indians within Georgia´s Western Territory, little was ever done about the Cherokee Indians. The discovery of gold brought settlers in despite the Indians, and eventually the infamous "Trail of Tears" would relinquish Cherokee County of its namesake Indian tribe. The Indian influence would remain strong in Cherokee County, giving names to many rivers & cities, such as the Etowah River or the town of Waleska.
