Welcome to our Kennesaw Real Estate site! Kennesaw is located approximately 25 miles north of downtown Atlanta in northern Cobb County. Kennesaw is easily accessed by both Interstate 75 and Cobb Parkway/Highway 41. Kennesaw was first founded in the 1830īs, and has a rich history based around the development of the Western Atlantic Railroad.
Kennesaw was settled by railroad workers due to the abundance of water and high ground close to the railroad. The highest point of the railroad between the Chattahoochee and Etowah Rivers is the still the present day crossing in Kennesaw. During the civil war, Kennesaw was part of "the Great Locomotive Chase", now an infamous part of US history. Sadly, in late 1864, Kennesaw fell subject to part of "The March to the Sea" and was set ablaze along with many neighboring cities.
Rising up from the ashes, Kennesaw had a prosperous turn of the century. Both cotton mills and the railroad served as important sources of revenue for the city. In the 1920īs, the Great Depression hit Kennesaw hard, and the boll weevil ruined the cotton industry. Kennesaw did not fully recover until the 1980īs, when a new law gained national attention. The law required "every head of household was to maintain a firearm together with ammunition". Since then, the crime rate in Kennesaw has consistently been the lowest in Cobb County and Kennesaw GA Real Estate has florished.
