Woodstock is approximately 30 miles north of downtown Atlanta, and a short drive up Interstates 75 & 575. Woodstock is the southernmost city in Cherokee County, just 12 miles south of the county seat, Canton.
Woodstock was first settled in the late 1800's. The first railroad and train depot came to Woodstock in 1879, and brought a flourish of life and activity to the town. Although it was mainly an agricultural town, Woodstock had various industries, including grist mills, wood carving, yarn spinning, and also mineral developments used for mining. Nearby Little River, Noonday Creek, and other creeks and streams fueled these industries by providing them water power.
